Join us in the Ballroom Thursday, December 5th for live music and a local toy drive. We’re partnering with Jacob’s Heart again this year and will be collecting new toys and gifts for the children who stay at the Akron Children’s Hospital Beeghly Boardman Campus over the holidays.
This year we welcome Howling Mob to the Ballroom for this years Tunes for Toys for Tots event. Live music will begin at 6 p.m. and go till 9 p.m.
Howling Mob is a five-piece honky tonk band based in Pittsburgh, PA. The group is named after the Great Railroad Strike of 1877, where angry protesters pushed over trains and set them on fire to push back against cut wages. Harper’s Weekly described the strikers as a “howling mob.” The group plays a mix of original music and covers ranging from Hank Williams and Patsy Cline to Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson. Check them out here:

We ask all patrons that wish to view/listen to the live music to bring a toy for entry into these shows. If you still want to donate, but cannot make it to the show on Thursday we will be collecting toys Monday, December 2nd thru Thursday, December 5th. Come together and help us make a kids Christmas special this year!
This year, we’re brewing up a special NEW small batch 6.8% West Coast-style IPA balancing traditional west coast hops with caramel malt and additions of ginger, clove, and orange peel to create a hoppy little festive ale to ring in the beginnings of the holiday season. We will be using 100% of proceeds from this “Christmas Out West” beer to purchase toys from North Star Toys, a family owned and operated wooden toy maker in the U.S.A. for Jacob’s Heart and the children on ACH Boardman Campus.
We are looking for new toys and gifts for these kids. Here are some ideas if you need ‘em: Coloring Books, Legos, Play-Doh, Craft & Art Kits, Bath & Body Gift Sets, X-Box Games, Teen Books, Toy Cars, Trucks & Tractors, Barbies and Dolls, NICU Blankets (25” x 40”), New Stuffed Animals w/Tags, Baby Onsies (Birdfish Onsies available in the Swag Shop if you forget a gift and want to gain entry into the show), Blocks, Playing Cards, Games, Play Food Sets, Play Tool Sets, Crayons, Markers, Journals, Drawing Paper, Hygiene Kits, Toddler Clothing
A little bit about Jacob’s Heart: Jacob was born on April 17, 1995 with a heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. This means he was born without the left side of his heart being complete. He was born at St Elizabeth Hospital then flown to Columbus Children’s Hospital. He had open heart surgery when he was 3 days old. Jacob was able to come home at 7 weeks. His mother, Nicole Eells was on her way to take him for an appointment back in Columbus on June 30, 1995 and he passed away on the way to the appointment. He was 10 weeks and 3 days old when he passed. Nicole began working at Akron Children’s Hospital 6 years ago. After seeing how things work here and the toys and books that get handed out to the kids, Nicole and her husband decided to start a toy drive in honor of Jacob. This is their 5th year doing the Christmas toy drive. We are happy to partner with the Eells family and Akron Children’s Hospital Boardman Campus on this years Tunes for Toys for Tots event.
We are anticipating a higher volume of customers during our Tunes for Toys for Tots evet. We want to remind all customers space may be limited and that tables not fully occupied may be open for shared space. We will not be able to take reservations for this event and that all seating is a first come first serve basis.
