Ruby - Mountain Soul Music

Join us in the Ballroom or on the patio (weather permitting) every Saturday for a little live music - no cover charge.

Ruby, a native of Morgantown, West Virginia, began classical training on the violin at age 3, a journey that continued into college at West Virginia University. In her adult years, she branched out from classical violin, and began a lifelong adventure as a musical performer in multiple bands spanning from rock-n-roll to honky-tonk. A multi-instrumentalist, she plays cello, viola, mandolin, banjo, bass, and piano, but typically performs live with violin, guitar, and ukulele.

After performing for 16 years as a touring musician with a multi-member act, she embarked on a solo career in 2018, and as of the end of 2024 has performed over 800 shows. As a soloist, Ruby draws upon a lifetime of experience as a songwriter, recording artist, and live performer, creating a unique incorporation of musical styles including elements of her Appalachian roots, classical training, rock, blues, country, and old-time music to forge her own original genre of classic Americana she’s coined “Mountain Soul Music.” It is truly Americana, at its best.

When not performing regional and local shows, Ruby tours throughout the U.S., routinely opens for national acts who visit and perform in Pittsburgh, and records in the studio. Since 2018 she has recorded and released 5 studio albums, her songs have received radio airplay, she has supported numerous notable acts such as Marshall Crenshaw, Scott Miller, The Steel Wheels, among others, and has been a featured performer in Telluride, and at the Kansas State Fair.

Black Wolf & the Thief

Join us in the Ballroom or on the patio (weather permitting) every Saturday afternoon from 2-5PM for a little live music - no cover charge.

Black Wolf & the Thief is a keyboard & percussion driven trio from Warren, OH with a funky, hard hitting, unique sound all of its own. The combination of Carolyn’s soulful, virtuosic voice & poetic lyricism and Clay’s aggressive, jazz-influenced piano playing makes a fresh blend of original music that marries the beauty of classical, the harmonies of jazz, & the hard edge of rock. The keyboard driven trio fuses the sonic landscape of bands like The Doors & Jefferson Airplane with the more eclectic, electronic sounds of modern bands like Florence + the Machine, Glass Animals, & MGMT. Three part harmonies, flute solos, & unusual synth sounds help make up the Black Wolf & the Thief sound, both in original songs as well as covers.

French Blue +2

Join us in the Ballroom or on the patio (weather permitting) every Saturday for a little live music - no cover charge.

Steve and Jen started French Blue in 2005…ish… after their band Static II came to an end. With a set list of the songs you forgot you loved, you will find a mix of current hits, b-sides and classics — Lord Huron, Journey, Alanis Morrisette, The Flys, Dido, Adele, Aerosmith, Bruce Springsteen, Dusty Springfield, Green Day, Fleetwood Mac, Nick Gilder, Filter, Sheryl Crow, Seven Saturdays, Tom Petty, Tori Amos, Sara McLachlan, Vance Joy, Mumford & Sons, U2, James, Janice Joplin, The Violent Femmes and more!

French Blue has played as a two-piece and a four-piece band... hell, sometimes a three-piece or five... French Blue is focused on guitar and vocals, while French Blue +2 adds a bass and djembe drum. Band members include:

  • Steve Pownell - Guitar, Vocals

  • Vocals Jen Durno - Vocals

  • Mark Revis - Djembe, Percussion, Vocals

  • Vocals Sam Petillo - Bass, Vocals

Swap Meet, Ohayo, & Punk Willie play The 7th Annual Big LeBREWski Festival

You are entering a world of FUN! Channel your inner Dude at this year’s Big LeBREWski Festival happening Saturday, April 19th!

“The Dude” White Russian Imperial Stout — our annual collaboration brew with Youngstown Coffee Company is back in cans and on tap. Hey, careful man, there's a beverage here! We teamed up with RAT Creative this year on some NEW LeBREWski 2025 Bowling Score Card Art rocks glasses — because, well, The Dude Abides.

We partnered with Westside Bowl and Havana House to make this year’s festival even more righteous. And as always, our homies at RAT Creative will be dropping fresh festival swag.

Early tapping of “The Dude” and “Walter Sobczech” with limited rocks glass inclusive happening Friday, April 18th at Westside Bowl. They’re planning to kick the celebration off right with live music from The Blue Collar Band Soul Review, bowling, Lebowski inspired pizza, happy hour and more. Visit their website at westsidebowl.com or Facebook page at facebook.com/westsidebowlyoungstown for complete details.

What to expect Saturday, April 19th at Birdfish for LeBREWski Fest 2025:

  • Taproom open early at 10 a.m.

  • “The Dude” White Russian Imperial Stout can release and tapping with optional Big LeBREWski rocks glass inclusive. Not exactly a lightweight... 8.5% — 200 glasses available, limit 1 per person.

  • We’re also serving up the Sweet Prince’s White Russian Cocktail. That’s right! We’re mixing cocktails behind the bar for the fest… The Sweet Prince’s Kahlua, Vodka, and Half & Half from Ralphs.

  • “Walter Sobczech” Czech Style Pilsner on draft… “Two oat sodas, Gary.”

  • I'm finishing my coffee: Youngstown Coffee Company “The Dude’s Roast” Big LeBREWski Festival blend coffee bags available for purchase while supplies last — the same coffee blend we use in “The Dude” White Russian Imperial Stout.

  • "The Maude" Sundog Ciderhouse Raspberry, Violet, Elderflower, Lemon Hard Cider on tap

  • Because you gotta feed the monkey, this is the day you eat at Frytanic and Hoshi Food Trucks. Frytantic will be setup early for breakfast/brunch serving their famous breakfast burritos starting at 10 a.m. and serving ‘till 6 p.m. Hoshi Japanese Hibachi Food Truck will be here as well serving from Noon to 9 p.m.

  • Check out the Royal Wii Bowling on the rug in the Ballroom — no drawing firearms during qualifying play! High score for the day gets to take home the Dude’s rug and a $50 Birdfish Gift Card.

  • DJ Cool Slaw is opening up LeBREWski Fest spinning vinyl from 10 to 11 a.m. on our in-house turntables.

  • Live music from Swap Meet 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • DJ Shortsleeves playing tunes in-between bands from 1 to 2 p.m.

  • Live music from Ohayo 2 to 4 p.m.

  • Costume Contest Catwalk & Judging based on, like, our opinion, man in Ballroom at 5 p.m. — $250 in Birdfish gift card prizes for top costumes! DJ Shortsleeves will be playing Lebowski soundtrack favorites… and maybe even The Eagles for your walk-out catwalk songs during the costume contest.

  • Live Music from Punk Willie 7 to 9 p.m.

Havana House in Niles is celebrating Big LeBREWski Festival on Saturday, April 19th thru Friday, April 25th… yes, a full week celebration!! They’ll have “The Dude” on tap with limited rocks glass inclusive starting April 19th and cans also available to-go while supplies last. “Walter Sobczech” on tap, Lebowski inspired cocktails, and more. Visit their website at havanahouseoh.com or Facebook page at facebook.com/HavanaHouseOh for a list of LeBREWski events happening at Havana House.

I don't know about you, but I take comfort in that. It's good knowin' he's out there. The Dude. Takin' 'er easy for all us sinners. Shoot.
