Join Bees & Trees along with Ms. Bee Haven herself, Gwen Spitz for a fun afternoon filled with beer, honey, and talking about the Bird(fish)s and the bees. Local honey for sale as well!
Bees and Trees - Susan Nutter and her husband, Scott, maintain 60 hives on their 65 acre tree farm in northeast Ohio, where they also produce maple syrup along with selling honey, beeswax, and honeybees. Follow Susan on Facebook by searching Bees and Trees, and on Instagram @beesandtrees.com.
Ms. Bee Haven - As a recently retired South Range School teacher with an interest in helping the environment, Gwen Spitz started her journey in beekeeping 6 years ago. She works and learns from a small apiary on 5 acres of land in Canfield with help from her friend and mentor, Susan Nutter.
Gwen was thrilled when Birdfish asked her if they could name their Honey Brown Ale after her apiary!
A highlight of Gwen’s beekeeping “career” has been teaching her 7-year old grandson Leif how to care for bees (PICTURED), and harvesting honey with Leif and his 5-year old brother Lars when they visited her this summer from their home in Australia.
