We have partnered with local Chef Prakash Roy of TAWA: Streets of India and local ceramic artist Margaret Wade for an Empty Bowl Fundraiser on Sunday, February 26th from 1-4 p.m.
What is an empty bowl fundraiser? The core of the event is a meal where, for a donation, guests choose a bowl and fill it with soup. They then sit down among the other guests, eat their soup, and learn a little about how their donation has helped to fill the truly empty bowls of people less fortunate in their community. Guests get to take home this one-of-a-kind ceramic bowl.
We have chosen Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley as the beneficiary for this event, which will receive 100% of empty bowl ticket sales along with 20% of overall beer sales (in-house, growler fills, to-go cans and bottles) during the event.
Margaret Wade has made and donated 50 unique wheel thrown stoneware pottery bowls, which means there are only 50 tickets available. Each ticket is $50, 100% of which will be donated to Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley.
TAWA: Streets of India menu below.
Momo soup:
Momos are classic dumplings originating from the northernmost part of India, from the Himalayan mountain regions. Handmade dumplings filled with all different stuffing. We will be serving vegetarian momo stuffed with all finely chopped green chickpeas, sweet peas, and edamame.
Soup will be a classic veg broth or chicken broth with amazing fresh herbs and vegetables.
Tandoori chicken and rice:
Chicken will be marinated in Indian spices, delightful but not hot. Grilled, smoked and served with saffron/ cumin/ cilantro rice and yogurt cilantro chutney (sauce).
A note from the chef: Two totally different food group and two different verity of spices. And of course, colors to die for.
