In 2025 we're continuing our commitment to help Columbiana Project Playground bring a new, inclusive playground to Columbiana through our Park IPA fundraising project in Harvey S. Firestone Recreational Park. Help us bring FUN back to the Funland Playground in our local city park! The Columbiana Project Playground, a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is continuing to raise funds to create a new all-inclusive playground in our park that every kid can love. We have committed to partnering with them to help with their fundraising efforts through Park IPA, where we collect $1 per pint poured from our taproom and donate it to local park projects. Through this Park IPA fundraising program and with your help, we have fully funded a 9-hole disc golf course which opened in 2021 and raised over $20,000 for the Columbiana Dog Park which opened in 2023. We are still raising funds for the Skate Park and already have funds allocated for the Columbiana Project Playground. With your help we hope to assist the Columbiana Project Playground with this needed community space.
ABOUT THE EVENT: Columbiana Project Playground is thrilled to invite you to the 2nd Annual "For the Love of Our Playground" event, taking place on February 22nd from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This year’s event is especially exciting as they reveal the final design of the new, inclusive playground at 12:00 PM—a culmination of months of effort to ensure the design captured everything the community requested. The Columbiana Project Playground group will have fun activities in the ballroom for kids along with a chance to win big ticket prizes the whole family will love. Two & A Half Greek’s food truck will be serving up traditional Greek street food with a twist starting at noon. Stick around for live music in the ballroom from The Applewhite’s from 3-5 p.m. as well. Come out and enjoy a Park IPA and help us build something great for our community.
The original Funland was built by volunteers and community members in 1995 and has since served as the foundation for many years of family memories and traditions. The wear and tear of generations of gatherings and playtime has left the current state of the playground in need of repair and upgrades consistent with modern necessities and inclusivity. Like the original project, the new committee was established to assemble volunteers and increase community engagement to once again mobilize construction efforts for a more modern and inclusive design that future generations and families can enjoy!
Now that the playground design is completed, Columbiana Project Playground is fully focused on raising the $680,000 to build Phase 1 of the playground. $100,000 has been raised to date, leaving $580,000 to go. Phase 1 includes the main tower play area with slides and climbing area, a toddler play area, Mary-go-round, fully accessible swing, entrance plaza, initial picnic area and music area. Phase 2, which will cost an additional $350,000 includes swings and a zip line.
